If you are interested in learning more about current events in Syria and the Middle East, especially from a progressive perspective, this event will help you unravel the complexities, ask questions and form your own opinions.
Direct Democracy in Rojava is a free info session about the feminist revolution in northern Syria, born of the Arab Spring, that emerged into international consciousness in 2015 when Kurdish women fighters participated in a decisive victory against Isis at Kobani.
A short presentation about the history of the Kurds and direct democracy in Rojava will be followed by the documentary film Accidental Anarchist–Life Without Government and a Q & A session (via Skype) with film researcher Liam Barrington-Bush.
