There are not many sites that can stop you in your tracks like a full moon rising above the horizon on a warm summer’s evening. In her talk, Carol Kiely will review some fascinating facts about our celestial neighbor. She will explain the phenomena behind its phases, origin and surface features. She will take you on a 3D tour around a lunar crater. And if you still think that surface of the moon is merely covered in a fine charcoal gray powder, think again. Using a combination of optical, scanning electron and X-ray micrographs, Dr. Kiely will introduce you to the fascinating microscopic world of lunar dust. Admission is FREE!
