The Quilted Museum, is the newest Community Art Project by creative studio Mercantile Home in collaboration with the Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society. The project calls on the community to create a huge fabric quilt that will cover the entire front of the Sigal Museum.    Community members cut fabric, created “quilt” squares, and affixed them to the interior of the all glass facade transforming the building into a magnificent, three story quilt in just one week.

The Sigal Museum, home of the Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Museum, is the leading institution of local history, and home to significant collections of pre-European settlement artifacts, decorative arts and textiles, farming implements and colonial furniture.   Executive Director Andrew Zellers-Frederick explains, “ As an organization so closely linked to our community, we are very excited to be working with Mercantile Home on this project.  It coincides perfectly with our current collection, Courthouse Quilters and Patchwork Tradition. “
