Parking Meters
The Parking Meter Project was started by the Design Committe of The Easton Main Street Inititive in conjunction with The Easton Business Association. It is an attempt to give a more cohesive, clean and attractive look to the downtown area and match the new black lighting that will be installed shortly.
There are approximately 500 meters in the downtown area, from Larry Holmes Drive to 6th Street and Bushkill Street to Washington Street. We paint one evening a week (Thursdays) for about 2 hours and have been doing this for the past 5 weeks. So far we have finished the meters on Northampton Street from Larry Holmes Drive thru Center Square. The meters from Center Square thru 6th Street have all been primed and just need the finish coat.
And the Winner is...

Garlic Fest Poster Contest Winner Announced

Garlic Festival 2008Garth Gower of Easton has been declared the winner of The Easton Main Street Initiative’s Garlic Fest Poster Contest. Gower’s winning design will be featured on the 2008 Easton Garlic Fest Poster. Gower, a graphic artist has worked in the Lehigh Valley for the past eight and a half years. He is currently employed as a senior Graphic Artist for Penn Treaty Network and freelances as a website designer.

The Garlic Fest poster contest was developed as a way of involving the arts community and creating a new tradition aimed at making each year’s festival poster a collector’s item. Garlic Fest organizers and The Easton Main Street Initiative were pleased with the outcome of this first-time contest and impressed by the high caliber of the sixteen entries submitted. The judges, composed of the Garlic Fest Executive Committee, chose Gower’s design for its bold, graphic quality and energy and its ability to be easily viewed from a distance. The design also won the People’s Choice Award.

In addition to having his artwork featured on the 2008 poster, Gower will also receive a $50.00 Gift Card to the State Theatre.

The 2008 Easton Garlic Fest will be held the first weekend in October. Festival organizers look forward to surpassing this year’s crowd of 5000 and making the event bigger, better and even stinkier!
