Opening of premier exhibit, “Eras of Elegance,” at Sigal Museum an exhibit of 35 carefully restored vintage gowns and accessories covering over 150 years and reflecting historical and economic trends of their times.
At 2 pm Dr. Karin Bohleke will give a short talk, “Behind the Scenes of Eras of Elegance,” on the tremendous amount of work that goes into resurrecting vintage gowns from storage, repairing and cleaning them for exhibition, assuring that all details are appropriate and accurate to the period. Bohleke is Director, Shippensburg University Fashion Archives and Museum, Shippensburg, PA. She served as guest curator and advisor, providing guidance and expertise to the Sigal Museum curatorial staff (Andria Zaia and Nancy O’Hanlon) and the dedicated volunteers who prepared costumes and accessories donated to the Northampton County Historical & Genealogical Society over a period of many years. Entrance to the opening is included with museum admission. The public is welcome.
