Learn how to turn your peels, cores, rinds, stems, and other edible odds and ends into delicious meals with Easton Public Market’s Chef Ada Chandler and Lindsey-Jean Hard, author of the new cookbook Cooking with Scraps. This amazing book reflects the growing movement to reduce food waste, with the USDA setting a nationwide goal to reduce waste 50 percent by 2030.
Chef Ada will prepare five different recipes from the book for sampling, and demonstrate a variety of tips and tricks for using unused scraps and oft-discarded foods like tomato skins, potato water, and canned bean liquid. Author Lindsey-Jean Hard will join the event live via Skype. There will be opportunity for Q&A with both the author and Chef Ada, and even a little hands-on cooking!
All participants receive 20% off the purchase price of the cookbook at the event offered by Easton’s Book & Puppet Co.
