2020 Census Information

The 2020 Census is fast approaching!

Article 1, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution states that the United States must conduct a census once every ten years to count each person living within the country. This is then used to allocate federal funds, determine representation in congress, designing public safety strategies, delivering goods and services to local markets, and more.

It is very important that an accurate census is conducted, as its impact lasts an entire decade. Due to an undercount in the 2010 Census, Pennsylvania lost an estimated $1,746 per person in federal funding, which added up to a loss of about $222,762,564 to the Commonwealth in 2015 alone.

Northampton County is looking for representatives to help inform the public of the importance of the upcoming Census. If you are interested, please contact Rebecca Sanchez at rsanchez@northamptoncounty.org or call (610) 829-6307.
